GOODBYE 2007... HELLO 2008!!!

The Shirley’s of 2007
Matt, Heidi & Jackson

::JANUARY::
Heidi went to California to have a family and friends baby shower! She was able to see all her family there and to get started on what we needed to welcome Jackson into our home and family.

::FEBRUARY::
Matt celebrated his 26th birthday. We really didn’t get to celebrate too much, just a little family dinner at Outback (Matt’s Favorite restaurant).

::MARCH::
Heidi celebrated her 25th birthday! We went out to dinner with our friends the Ellis'. Heidi and Heather have the same birthday just 5 years apart! We went to an all-you-can-eat Italian buffet. It was so good!

::APRIL::
We welcomed Jackson Allen Shirley into our family on April 15th at 10:48pm. He weighed 8lbs. 2oz. And was 20 ¼ inches long. He was a week late. Heidi had to be induced and after being a week late and so ready to have him be a part of our family. Sheryl (Heidi's mom) was there with us the first week of him being home, then Lucy & Lisa the 2nd week he was home (Matt's mom & sister) to be a HUGE help and support to us during this new and exciting adventure.

::MAY::
Heidi’s 1st Mother’s Day!

::JUNE::
We went to a John Mayer concert at Red Rocks. Later that night was when we got the big surprise of taking Matt to the ER. He was a lot of pain and could hardly walk. Once we got there they ran tests on Matt and found that he had appendicitis, and they would get him into surgery first thing the next morning. Jackson and I went home to get some sleep. Matt called us first thing in the morning saying he was on his way into surgery and that he would be ready for visits around 9:30am. Jackson and I got there around 10:30 and he still wasn’t out of surgery. I was out of my mind nervous, and didn’t understand why he was still in surgery. All they said to me was that there was something else they had to take care of. Once the surgeon came out he explained to me that they did an appendectomy, but while they were removing that, they found a mass on his colon and had to remove it. They weren’t sure what it was, so as we waited to hear from the lab we had the great support of family and friends through thoughts and prayers. A huge thank you to all those prayers on our behalf. Needless to say it wasn’t the easiest time for us. Matt spent his 1st Father’s Day in the hospital!

::JULY::
We went to Ogden Canyon in Utah for a Shirley Family Reunion. We had a great time tubing and hanging out on the lake with all of Matt’s family. Heidi was finally able to meet all the Shirley Family!

::AUGUST::
Heidi’s family came out to Colorado to go camping in Estes Park/ Rocky Mountain National Park. We had a great time fishing, (catch and release didn’t make the family too happy) and walking around Downtown Estes. If the Holmes family goes off that experience in Estes, we will never see them move out here with us.

::SEPTEMBER::
We took our 1st road trip with Jackson to Utah to see Brendon and Stephanie be sealed in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. We had a great time seeing this wonderful event in their lives.

::OCTOBER::
We finally saw an end in our search for a home. We put in a few offers on homes out in Brighton Colorado and finally had an offer accepted!

::November::
We celebrated our 1st Thanksgiving on our own here in Colorado. Matt’s sister came into town to be with us during this holiday. Heidi made her first Thanksgiving meal by herself, with a few phone calls to her mom about how to make a few things. We had an apartment full of boxes and love! We then closed on our house on the 26th, and moved in on the 28th!

::DECEMBER::
Christmas shopping before leaving for CA! Enjoying our new home!
